Since January 2013, Dr. Vieira works as a visiting scientist at the museum.

Rosamary Vieira graduated at the São Paulo State University (UNESP) in Brazil with a major in ecology. She defended her Master's thesis in 1995 in life sciences (with emphasis on entomology) at the National Institute of Amazonian Research (INPA) in Manaus, Brazil, supervised by Dr. Hubert Höfer. Her topic was “Foraging effect of swarm-raiding army ants on arthropods, especially on spiders, in a Central Amazonian forest".

She received her doctor’s degree in 2004 in Ecology and Natural Resources at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar), São Paulo, Brazil, supervised by Dr. Manoel M. Dias Filho. The topic of her PhD research project was: “Effects of the forest fragmentation on butterflies associated with army ants (Eciton burchelli)”.
